Originally from Pittsburgh, PA and formerly on the professional track to become a veterinarian, Shannon Thomas is a Real-Time Supervisor with over 20 years of experience in the VFX, animation, and film industries.
His career has taken him around the globe, with key contributions at studios including Rhythm & Hues, Weta FX, Blizzard Entertainment, and DreamWorks Animation. Shannon has played a role in numerous award-winning projects, including Golden Globe, Emmy, and Academy Award-winning feature films, TV series, real-time productions, and animated franchises. Highlights include Avatar, The Hobbit, How to Train Your Dragon, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Boss Baby, as well as beloved game cinematics for World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Diablo.
For the past three years, Shannon has been part of Industrial Light & Magic's StageCraft team, contributing to various projects including Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Superman, the Paris Summer and Milan Winter Olympics, and the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu feature film. His team's work for NBC Universal was recently recognized with multiple Emmy Awards for the 2024 Paris Summer Games coverage.
Additionally, he has co-written and directed several live-action short films, which have been recognized by both the LA 48 Hour Film Project and the Austin Comedy Film Festival.
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys traveling the world with his wife, mentoring aspiring artists online, and relaxing at home with their two cats, often while exploring new software and creative technologies.
